KATHY TYLER BIO
Kathy Tyler grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan and studied Fine Arts at Western Michigan University, obtaining a BFA in painting. She went back to study Graphic Design while working at small design and marketing firms in the Kalamazoo area and furthered her education first hand in the real working world of advertising.
A big break came when she got hired as a production artist at Biggs/Gilmore Advertising. While there she worked her way up to becoming an Art Director and team member on some of their largest accounts which included Stryker Medical and The Upjohn Company.
After nine years she took a break and developed her own freelance design company, KAT Design and for several years worked primarly on local and regional accounts as well as a national museum exhibition design company based in Kalamazoo. In the years since starting KAT Design, she has kept her company active and worked for herself when not working for another marketing firm.
In 1998 she joined Stap, Inc. and became their Senior Art Director, responsible for the design and development of marketing materials for business-to-business and international accounts and became the primary designer for Plainwell Paper marketing materials which were sent to art directors and designers throughout the country.
After nearly three years at Stap, Inc., Kathy went to work as a Senior Art Director at Seven Worldwide, the on-site design studio in the Kellogg Company headquarters and worked on many of their branding collateral pieces and special projects.
From there she became a Senior Graphic Designer for LKF Marketing and designed advertising and marketing pieces for ATA Airlines, The Air Zoo, Kalamazoo Public Schools Magent Schools and many others.
